Clients of Enginasion include “big” and “little” companies in the Industrial, Medtech, Military, and Pharmaceutical sectors—some of whom have in-house engineering resources while some do not. Enginasion has helped clients to design and build hardware and software that monitors, measures and controls mechanical, electrical and fluid systems.
OVERVIEW: Enginasion specializes in solving the most difficult automation problems, applying ingenuity, in- depth understanding of physical phenomena and materials, and wide-ranging expertise in digital and analog electronics, software, user interfaces, networks, fluid controls, motion control systems and measurement techniques.
CLIENT: GE Energy is at the forefront of Smart Grid deployments, delivering state-of-the-art smart metering solutions. The company offers a full line of single- and poly-phase meters to meet utility requirements for form factors and functionality. GE Energy’s Smart Meters come equipped with various options for communications tech- nology, home area network options, remote service switch, as well as a number of embedded features such as load profile, demand, and Time Of Use tariff.
CHALLENGE: “We have been relying on Enginasion to work with our engineers to develop a wide variety of quality-verification systems for a number of different products that are manufactured internationally,” says Dan Garneau, Senior Manufacturing Engineer for GE Energy. “Enginasion has special expertise that is very difficult to find. But in addition to being extremely competent and well-versed in a number of tech- nologies, Enginasion’s people are also easy to work with. And those two benefits are why we continue to work with them after 20 years.”
SOLUTION: According to Garneau, Enginasion is much more than a builder of test equipment to specs. “They’re also a co-author of the specs, which is an interesting and unusual combination that makes our lives a whole lot easier. It is almost impossible to find a firm like Enginasion. In our case, Enginasion knows an awful lot about meter-testing and meter-automation equipment, among many other specialties.”
